Very thorough and, actually, helpful. But why do you techy types think the rest of us understand all the intricate stuff automatically? Please be more specific and use additional examples, i.e., email the ICS file??? Thanx, though, for the effort put into maintaining this forum.

If you want to hand out read-only access to the calendar, probably the best way to do this is via CalDAV. See http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=151674 for more info on how to set it up.

I want to just view and not be able to change the google calendar on my iPhone. It’s a church calendar that’s constantly updated at the office, but we don’t want to allow anyone with a mobile phone to update it, just view it? Is there a setting for this?

Having issues making my iphone calendar data show up on google. I’ve done the calDAV connections, everything is synced fine and any new event I make in my google calendar goes to my iphone but this is not what i want. I have nothing on my google calendar, and all of my events on my iphone. I do not have a mac (got stolen) and I do not use outlook (using thunderbird). My thunderbird is linked to my google account too, and if I could get google to register the events from my iphone then thunderbird could see them too. Why is it only syncing one way?

Mucked around with this for WAY too long trying to organize myself at work, but after reading google and several forums, I want to clear up a widely distrbuted problem:

HOW I GOT MY “OTHER” CALENDERS FROM GOOGLE TO MY IPHONE

I’ve read alot of complaints that

https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect

doesn’t seem to work with google synch. Here’s why – it doesn’t control google synch with the exchange server, it controls the calDAV application. So, turn OFF calender synching on your gmail account, and then add another account under “Other” CalDAV for your calenders. If you have other calenders you selected, they will now appear on your iphone through the second “Calenders” account.

On a side note – the google documentation is fairly subtle about the fact that the https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect url is not for google synch, it’s for the calDAV… but it does say it. Definately needs some clarification in the documentation.

To get all views of Google calendar syncing with Iphone, set up Gmail account in settings on iphone. On web, go to https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect and select specific calendar views to sync with iphone.
